Fostering Growth in Our Community
Since 2014, we’ve been making strides in creating a more inclusive tech environment here in Boston, helping launch over 20 minority-run startups so far.
Perhaps even more importantly, we’ve started a local dialogue about underrepresentation of some communities in technology and business leadership. With the help of our donors, volunteers, and other community partners, we strive to shift the demographic dynamic of the startup sector.
Being a part of Smarter in the City was instrumental to my business. My favorite mentor is Sarah McCary, she really taught me how to act and think like a CEO of an early stage start up. Her advice helped me to become a better leader. I also really appreciated the sense of community among all the start ups. Having other founders to brainstorm ideas and have work parties was the equivalent of having another co-founder on the team .Everyone has different ideas and we became even more creative as figured out solutions together. I am glad I picked an accelerator focused on tech that had the right mentors in place to help our business go to the next level.
Smarter In the City has been an amazing experience for the past 6 months. Being that this was not our first time going through an accelerator, we were very impressed with the structure and caliber of the program. The mentors involved with Smarter have been a great resource for our team. During the past 6 months we were able to redefine our target market, doubled our user base, and designed and tested a repeatable marketing process in order to scale. We are forever grateful for the daily support of all the team members here and as we grow this company, the SITC community will always be one of the most impactful elements of our journey!
I had an amazing experience participating in the recent Smarter in the City cohort. At times the entrepreneurial road can be very lonely, so interacting daily with a group of smart and dedicated founders at SITC was invaluable. Also, your thought process being able to be challenged by a sharp group of mentors and subject matter experts added so much value to our product roadmap and long term strategies. Thanks, Kofi and Gilad! SITC has equipped us with the proper tools and infrastructure to continue our strong vision of empowering millions of small businesses not only in this community but nationwide with our technology.
